Helios donates another $1 million for education initiative in Tampa

Our client Helios Education Foundation does incredible work creating opportunities for individuals in Florida and Arizona to succeed in postsecondary education. We are proud to have designed their Tampa office, which serves as a collaborative space for a variety of community outreach events to support their mission.

A little over a year after the Helios Education Foundation gave $1.5 million alongside the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and USAmeriBank, history was repeated.

On Tuesday, Helios announced it would be following through on a promise to donate another $1 million to what became the Fuse Scholarship fund. A year ago, the additional funding was made contingent upon the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay raising $500,000 within two years.

However, that only took about 14 months.

“I remember thinking it was an aspirational goal,” said Paul Luna, president and CEO of Helios. “There’s a level of trust you have, where it seems like a great idea and you think ‘I really do hope it works.’ And here we are, long before the time we’ve given ourselves, and I think that’s an indication of when you come together to do what’s truly right — to serve students — the community will come together and leadership will come together.”
