During her time at school she served as secretary of AIAS, as superintendent of the Alpha Rho Chi chapter and interned in Detroit with Distributed Power working with others to help revitalize vacant lots by transforming them into thriving urban farms. Her abilities include hand and computer drafting, model building, and proficiencies in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Rhino and 3ds Max. Outside of the office Khai enjoys enjoys creating public art installations, biking and going to the gym.

    Melissa relocated from Florida’s Space Coast to join BDG Architects in 2017. During her time at the University of Florida she was fortunate to participate in the Vicenza Institute of Architecture program in Italy for two semesters, first as an undergraduate student and the second as a Graduate Teaching Assistant – which granted her leadership opportunities through teaching. Her experience before joining our firm was largely influenced by her work with a small firm, where she contributed to a variety of projects including educational, residential, and commercial projects.

    Mickey, founding principal with Urban Studio Architects, has been practicing architecture in Tampa, Florida for 35 years. During that time, he has worked on many successful projects across a variety of project types, focusing on interior architecture, concept planning, office building design consultation and hospitality building design. Mickey’s commitment to leadership in the profession has been the driving force behind his extensive AIA participation. Following his term as President of AIA Florida in 2004-2005, he served as the 2007-2009 AIA Florida/Caribbean Regional Director on the AIA National Board of Directors and was then elected AIA Vice President 2009-2011/ Mickey was subsequently elected to serve as the 2013 AIA President, only the second person from Florida to hold that office in the 157 year history of the AIA.

Peter has held many leadership roles throughout his professional and private lives, including being the founder (and later coach) of his college ice hockey team and captain of his Latin dance company. These experiences have molded him into someone that his team can look up to and count on for guidance and motivation throughout a project.     Philip Kennedy has over 30 years of experience in providing a variety of architectural services including site due diligence, architectural design, interior architecture and space planning design. Mr. Kennedy began his career in Birmingham, Alabama where, in 1991, he became a founding partner of PKA Architects Inc. He served as President of PKA Architects from 1997 until joining BDG Architects in 2013. Mr. Kennedy also has extensive experience in working with financial institutions and has been involved in the design and development of retail bank branch prototypes. He has worked throughout the Southeast, Midwest and Texas.     In addition to being an AIA member, Scott also is a member and co-founder of REV YP (young professionals organization). His industry experience spans 15 years within the architecture profession. He has been involved in designs for a wide range of architecture including day care centers, car dealerships, hospitality, banks, commercial offices, and retail. He has worked closely with building departments in developing due diligence reports and has been intimately connected with several ADA programs. Aside from Scott’s professional life he has worked closely in the construction industry for over 15 years renovating his own investment property and has worked under the guidance of general contractor’s as a rough carpenter, finish carpenter, and an apprentice for electrical and plumbing trades. We at BDG Architects consider Scott to be motivated, determined, disciplined, patient, and trustworthy, just the kind of person you’d want to be on your team.
